Fixtures released for Region 5 Games u20 football competitions
The fixtures have been completed for the men’s and women’s Under-20 football competitions at the Region 5 Games in Windhoek from July 4-13, with the tournaments to form part of COSAFA’s regional championships in this age-group for this year.
Two venues will be used in the Namibian capital, the Hage Geingob Stadium and the UNAM Stadium.
The men’s competition will kick-off with a Group A clash between Malawi and Zimbabwe on July 4 (12h00 CAT / 10h00 GMT), followed by a clash in the same pool later between hosts Namibia and Angola (15h00 CAT / 13h00 GMT).
Group B gets under way on July 5 when Eswatini clash with Botswana (12h00 CAT / 10h00 GMT), and South Africa take on Zambia (15h00 CAT / 13h00 GMT).
All of those matches will be at the at the Hage Geingob Stadium.
The men’s semi-finals take place on July 11, with the top team in Group A to face the runner-up in Group B, and vice-versa.
The final will be at the Hage Geingob Stadium at 14h00 CAT (12h00 GMT) on July 13.
The women’s competition will predominantly be played at the UNAM Stadium, though the final will be at the same venue as the men’s at 11h00 CAT (09h00 GMT) on July 13.
The competition kicks off with a Group A clash between Botswana and Zimbabwe at 12h00 CAT (10h00 GMT) on July 4, before hosts Namibia take on Malawi at 15h00 CAT (13h00 GMT).
The Group B action will get under way at 12h00 CAT (10h00 GMT) on July 5 when Eswatini face Angola. There will then be a titanic clash between old foes Zambia and South Africa at 15h00 CAT (13h00 GMT).
All of these fixtures take place at the UNAM Stadium.
