The Numbers From Our Record-Breaking SWPL Campaign

0 21

We've crunched the numbers from our historic 2024/25 campaign, which saw Hibs Women secure their first league title in almost two decades!

Hibs Women head into the 2025/26 season as Champions following an unforgettable year on and off the pitch for the Club, with Grant Scott’s side breaking multiple Club records and enjoying many memorable milestones along the way.

Check out our favourite stats, oddities and insights from the past season below!

Record points haul

Our fourth SWPL title was hard-fought to the very end, with Glasgow City and Rangers pushing us all the way. It took our greatest-ever points total (77) to get it over the line – a true testament to the scale of our achievement.

66 points was our previous record, though this total was accrued over just a 22-game season. This was in the 2006/07 season, when the Hibees last won the league title by winning every single match.

Additionally, the Hibees also scored 90 league goals and finished with a goal difference of +69. This was both our highest scoring league campaign and highest goal differential since the 2010 season.

It is also worth noting that this unbelievable season comes fresh off the back of the Hibees’ toughest SWPL campaign to date, with our transitional 2023/24 campaign ending in a fifth-place finish – our joint-lowest placing in the Club’s history.

Additionally, the Hibees only topped the table for one week prior to the split, then contrastingly only fell from top spot for a single week post-split, proving that our title run was timed to perfection.

Overcoming the ‘Glasgow Three’

A near-immaculate record versus the Bottom Six (11 wins, one draw) undoubtedly played a large role in Hibs Women’s title triumph, but it was stellar league form against our closest title rivals that ensured the SWPL trophy returned to the capital for the first time in 18 years.

Glasgow City

We secured back-to-back league wins versus runners-up Glasgow City for the first time since 2007 - with this run also including our first home and away league wins over the Springburn outfit since the same year.

Our 1-0 win at Petershill Park in March was our first away league win over Leanne Ross’ side since 7 May 2007, while our 3-1 victory at Meadowbank Stadium in January was our first home league win over City since 4 November 2007.

Rangers

Our 3-0 victory over Rangers in December secured our first league win over the Glasgow club since 20 October 2019 (8-0 win), ending an 18-game winless run against the Gers.

We remained unbeaten against Jo Potter’s side across the entire SWPL campaign for the first time since the 2019 season, with a 1-1 draw at Meadowbank – five years to the day after the aforementioned 8-0 win – preceding three further wins.

Celtic

Similarly to Rangers, we picked up our first league win over Celtic since 2019. Eilidh Adams’ winner during our meeting in March secured the win, ending our winless run against the Hoops which stretched back to our 3-0 win at Ainslie Park on 23 September 2019. This put an end to an 16-game barren winless streak versus Elena Sadiku’s outfit.

With two wins and two draws secured against Celtic over the 2024/25 SWPL season, this was our first unbeaten league campaign against the Glasgow side since the 2018 competition.

Hibees dominate monthly honours

This past season saw the SWPL Player of the Month award presented to a Hibs Women player on five occasions out of a possible 10 – a 50% win rate!

The remarkable feat – completed by three players: Abbie Ferguson, Eilidh Adams and Kathleen McGovern – is especially notable when taking into consideration that no Hibernian player had picked up the league-wide award across the two previous campaigns.

Flying the flag for Scotland

There was plenty of recognition on the international stage this season for our First Team stars.

Kathleen McGovern and Eilidh Adams both made their Scotland ‘A’ Squad debuts, Michaela McAlonie, Rosie Livingstone, Tegan Bowie and loanee Erin Clachers all performed with the Under-23s, while Rowena Armitage was a consistent performer across various age groups for the National Team.

On her second Scotland appearance, versus the Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League, McGovern netted away from home against the 2019 FIFA World Cup finalists to earn Scotland a point in Tilburg.

The well-taken finish made Kathleen the first Hibs Women’s player to score for the Scotland Women’s National Team in over 15 years – since Kirsty McBride scored against Denmark on 14 August 2009.

Incredible unbeaten runs and winning streaks

The Hibees went 16 league games without losing from 6 October 2024 to 30 March 2025 while fighting for the league title – with this incredible run also including a nine-game winning streak in the league.

This 16-game run is our best unbeaten league sequence since going 20 without tasting defeat across the end of the 2017 and start of the 2018 campaign.

However, our record unbeaten league streak is unlikely to ever be broken – with a mammoth 58-game run (56 wins, two draws) without a loss occurring stretching between 2005 and 2007!

Building a fortress

Grant Scott’s side lost just once in 16 games at Meadowbank Stadium this season across all competitions.

The impressive feat included an 11-game unbeaten stretch at the ground from the beginning of the campaign until April – which included key league wins over Celtic and Glasgow City, as well as a Sky Sports Cup Semi-Final victory over Aberdeen.

Superb clean sheet streak

Our robust backline and in-form goalkeepers played a huge role in our successes over the 2024/25 season.

Erin Clachers (two matches) and Noa Schumacher (three matches) combined to keep five clean sheets in a row between 15 December 2024 and 19 January 2025, which is Hibs Women’s longest clean sheet streak since a five-match spell – across two separate seasons – between 19 November 2017 and 25 February 2018.

From the Academy to the SWPL

A significant milestone for the Club was achieved in late March when 15-year-old Academy midfielder Jess Ramsay was introduced as a substitute versus Motherwell at K-Park.

Jess had become the second 15-year-old Academy graduate in less than two months, following fellow midfielder Isla Taylor’s appearance versus Queen’s Park at Ochilview in early February.

Two 15-year-old Academy stars earning their senior debuts was a great moment for the Club, as we seek to continue improving the standards of our Academy and maintain our reputation as a progressive Club that offers a clear pathway to talented youngsters.
