Ajax leading race to sign Liverpool goalkeeper on loan

0 4

Ajax are reportedly in the lead to sign Liverpool goalkeeper Viteslav Jaros on loan this summer.

A number of clubs have expressed an interest in the 23-year-old, but The Athletic report Ajax are in pole position to land the player’s services.

Johnny Heitinga was part of Arne Slot’s backroom staff as the Reds clinched the 2024-25 Premier League title.

But the former Netherlands international has recently agreed to become new Ajax manager after Francesco Farioli resigned from his post.

Heitinga knows Jaros well from his time at Anfield and hopes to bring the player to Amsterdam.

Jaros has been on Liverpool’s books for several years but has made only two senior appearances for them.

Although the Czech footballer played an important role in their victory against Crystal Palace in October when he replaced the injured Alisson Becker as a late substitute.

The Reds have sold Caoimhin Kelleher to Brentford, but they are not short of options for goalkeepers.

Giorgi Mamardashvili will arrive from Valencia after the Merseyside outfit agreed a deal for the 24-year-old last summer.

They have also signed Armin Pecsi from Puskas Akademia, with the youngster set to compete with Harvey Davies to provide backup.

Liverpool have been very busy this summer, as they have already wrapped up a move for Jeremie Frimpong.

They have also reached a verbal agreement with Bayer Leverkusen over Florian Wirtz in a deal worth up to €150 million.
