Daniel Levy meets with agents of £70m Tottenham target as Thomas Frank era draws near

0 9

Tottenham may need to break their transfer record if they are to make Thomas Frank’s first signing a reality, with Bournemouth refusing to budge on their valuation of in-demand forward Antoine Semenyo.

Tottenham Hotspur cannot sign any new players until 16 June, when the summer transfer window officially reopens across Europe.

The early days of this window have been focused on finding a replacement for Ange Postecoglou, who was relieved of his duties on Friday, 6 June, after just two seasons as Tottenham boss.

Spurs now appear to be edging closer to appointing Thomas Frank as their new head coach, with an official announcement anticipated before the end of the week barring any late complications.

Tottenham told to £70m for Antoine Semenyo as they target Thomas Frank rebuild

Regardless of the club’s unresolved managerial situation, Tottenham continue to be linked with several players, and Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo is firmly on Spurs’ radar.

Semenyo enjoyed an impressive Premier League campaign last season, scoring 11 goals and supplying five assists, prompting interest from Spurs. However, Manchester United are also thought to be monitoring the situation.

Antoine Semenyo Stats (Premier League 2024-25)
Appearances:37
Goals:11
Expected goals (xG):9.98
Scoring frequency:292min
Assists:5
Big chances created:11
Successful dribbles:1.9 (55%)

Bournemouth are not keen on parting ways with Semenyo and are determined to make any potential transfer as difficult as possible for interested parties.

TalkSport reports that Semenyo’s representatives have already met with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to discuss the possibility of a move this summer.

The Cherries are understood to be standing firm on their £70 million valuation of the Ghana international, a figure that would surpass the £65m fee Spurs paid Bournemouth for Dominic Solanke last summer.

Spurs have a Semenyo alternative lined up

It is hardly surprising to see Bournemouth standing their ground over Semenyo’s price tag, particularly as they are under no financial pressure to sell following a lucrative few months.

The South Coast side has already sanctioned the £50m sale of Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid, while Milos Kerkez is expected to complete a big-money move to Liverpool in the coming days.

Tottenham do have alternative options if they fail to reach an agreement for Semenyo. Eberechi Eze has been named among Spurs’ transfer targets, and Jack Grealish is also believed to be admired within the Tottenham hierarchy.
