Bayern Munich step on Tottenham toes in the race to sign PSG star
Tottenham’s pursuit of a prolific Ligue 1 forward now looks in jeopardy as he has emerged as a key target for one of the biggest clubs in Europe.
Spurs will need to add more firepower to their forward line this summer, particularly amidst rumours that Heung-min Son could be on his way to Saudi Arabia.
It was reported two weeks ago that the Lilywhites had set their sights on a French star, who has found the back of the net 21 times and provided 19 assists in the season just passed.
The report, which was carried by El Nacional, claimed that Spurs were keen on a move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola, who could be allowed to leave by the European champions.
Tottenham face competition from European giants for Bradley Barcola
The report in El Nacional mentioned that Spurs will have to shell out more than £40m to win the race for the 22-year-old, who is capable of playing across the front three.
However, the fee is not the only roadblock that Tottenham might have as Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has now revealed that Bradley Barcola is firmly in the sights of Bayern Munich.
He explained that the Bundesliga giants have identified the PSG star as their top target as they go in search of a left-winger this summer.
However, Plettenberg added that Bayern have also identified several other alternatives in case Barcola proves beyond their reach this summer.
Would PSG consider cashing in on Barcola?
Given the exceptional season that the France international has just had, it is undoubtedly going to take a huge offer to persuade the Parisians to sell the youngster.
Reports over recent days indicate that Tottenham are expected to seal the signing of Mathys Tel, while various sources are suggesting that Spurs are also attempting to hijack Man United’s move for Bryan Mbeumo.
It thus does not appear that Barcola is near the top of Spurs’ wishlist, perhaps because the Lilywhites are aware that the operation would be difficult to complete.
