Brad Marchand Has Blunt Take On His Panthers Future Amid Stanley Cup Run
Brad Marchand has certainly furthered his case as an attractive free agent this offseason.
The Boston Bruins legend has made a big impact since joining the Florida Panthers at the trade deadline, with his finest moment coming with his Game 2-winning goal in double overtime to even the series as it shifts back to Sunrise.
As one of the most reliable two-way players in the game, Marchand always was going to have his suitors as a free agent, even at the age of 37. But to play the way he has this postseason will only drive up interest.
Marchand’s game has fit in well with Paul Maurice’s system, and with the Panthers establishing themselves as the toughest out in the Eastern Conference the last few years, keeping Marchand in the fold would be a step in continuing that run.
At the very least, Marchand is open to the idea of a return to Florida this offseason, he said to ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski.
“Yeah, I’ve thought about it. But we’ll deal with that in the future,” Marchand said.
Marchand has seven goals and 10 assists this postseason across 19 games. His next chance to add to that total will be Monday night in Game 3 against the Edmonton Oilers.
