On the right track: Partnership between DFC and Southeastern is just the ticket!
Dartford Football Club will be on the minds of millions of train passengers every year thanks to a new partnership between the Club and Southeastern.
The Club will now have a permanent presence at Dartford Train Station, with posters and boards signposting the club, upcoming matches and news.
With more than 8,600 passengers on average every day, Dartford is believed to be the busiest station in Kent. It served 3,152,900 people between April 2021 and March 2022.
For Dartford Football Club, it is the latest initiative it hopes will help put Dartford back on the football map and help increase attendances.
A spokesman for DFC said: “It is fantastic for the Club to get a permanent presence at Dartford Train Station.
“Not only will it help the Club get in front of millions of potential new fans each year, but will ensure a lasting relationship and synergy between the Club and Station.
“We look forward to watching the partnership grow.”
In January, the Club held its first Fans’ Forum which saw its new five-year plan unveiled. The board highlighted its ambition to have – and be able to support better – its men’s and women’s sides playing in their respective National Leagues in five years’ time.
With just a handful of teams operating in the men’s National League without full-time playing staff, financial targets and forecasts were highlighted which it is hoped will help oversee a new chapter in the club’s history, with day-time training introduced.
Areas of focus raised to support these financial plans, included the setting up of a new girls’ academy, new communication streams and new ways of promoting the club to a wider potential audience.
The men’s first team, managed by former Gillingham defender Ady Pennock, narrowly missed out on promotion to the National South league in May after finishing third in the Isthmian Premier league and losing in the Play-off Final.
Southeastern Passenger Services Director David Wornham said: “We are delighted to play an active role in the communities we serve, and we recognise the value of a football club and the part it also plays in the community.
“We wish Dartford every success on and off the field.”
Jim Payne, Dartford Station Manager, added: “We at Dartford Station and Southeastern are looking forward to working in collaboration with Dartford FC.
“This will be a long relationship that reaches out, not just to the club and station, but the wider community as a whole.”
Dean Martin, Passenger Services Performance Manager said: “When I set out to work with various football clubs across our network, I understood the impact this initiative would have on our local communities.
“I’m proud to be working alongside Dartford FC. Our partnership promises to go from strength to strength.”
The partnership was facilitated by DFC supporter Sean Sparrow, who works for Southeastern at the station.
