Tottenham could still turn to Mauricio Pochettino to replace Ange Postecoglou

0 1

While Thomas Frank has emerged as the top contender to replace Ange Postecoglou, a new report has now claimed that Tottenham are also considering turning to former coach, Mauricio Pochettino.

Over the last 24 hours, several sources have said that Frank has emerged as the favourite for the Tottenham job, with Daniel Levy keen to have a new head coach in by next week.

However, some outlets claim that Marco Silva also remains in contention for the Spurs hot seat, with the Fulham boss alleged to have spoken to the Lilywhites about their vacancy.

A new report has suggested that the race for the Tottenham Hotspur job remains open, with one Spurs fan favourite among the list of names on the club’s wishlist.

Tottenham could make a move for Mauricio Pochettino

This update comes from BBC Sport, who confirm that Frank is at the front of the queue to take over from Ange Postecoglou.

However, interestingly, the outlet says that former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, who is currently in charge of the U.S. men’s national team, is also on Levy’s shortlist.

Pochettino has previously said that he has unfinished business at Spurs, and his return will undoubtedly be very popular with the supporters.

BBC Sport add that Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola and Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner are still being considered by the Lilywhites for the role.

Spurs fans should not get their hopes up about a Pochettino return

The former Tottenham manager was only appointed as the US head coach in September of last year and he has been tasked with leading the country into their home World Cup next year.

It has been reported over recent weeks that Pochettino is protected by a massive release clause of $25m (£19.3m).

That means that Daniel Levy will have to spend handsomely if he wants to bring the 53-year-old through the door.
