RagsRagsClever, clever barstards. It's genius really - to come from thousands of miles away and recognise an actual bloody bargain and from right under the noses of anyone else in the area (looking at 4 sheds here) is proof of the genius of the bloke. No one else saw this opportunity yet when you look at it and like Tom says - find any other major city in the developed Western world with this kind cheap land in the middle of it....
"find any other major city in the developed Western world with this kind cheap land in the middle of it"
Well there was a few years earlier .. the site where HS2 is landing in Curzon Street was exactly the same, and that's how HS2 ended up coming to Brum Central and not to some outpost 20 miles outside the City.
BCC landed on their feet with the immense number of large sites they had been determined to hang on to for years when everyone was clamouring for them to just dump them or use them for housing/retail.
... and there's still others ...
For example the Drews Lane site in Washwood Heath where LDV vans was is going to be a massive warehousing and road hub opportunity as well as being used for all the HS2 train maintenance/repairs etc and therefore it will have access to the HS2 network - i've no idea how, but if one day somehow someone works out how to use/utilise HS2 speed goods trains then that will be a massively important location
Rags, the Curzon St HS2 site , what sort of acreage ??
Please tell me it would have been large enough for the north side mongrels to have built a replacement vile pork Quarter ....
Altogether ? ... with the land that will eventually be developed with non-HS2 stuff ? ... about 140 acres i seem to recall- and it was empty, no existing factories or anything
Thanks Rags
The fact that their Mega rich, dogs bollocks owners ( which ever generation ) overlooked that site as a potential new home makes me warm inside.
Just imagine, they could have been in our shoes .... ????????
I'll be winding up the arrogant fekkers at every opportunity with that
