Tottenham defender promises to fight for starting place after ‘difficult season’

0 9

Kevin Danso is not prepared to sit back at Tottenham, with the Austrian international having made it clear he is ready to fight for a place in Spurs’ starting eleven.

Tottenham Hotspur are hopefully keen on building on their last season’s success after they won the Europa League and ended a nearly two-decade wait for a major piece of silverware, since they last won one in 2008.

Indeed, it was a much-needed trophy for the Lilywhites, who had struggled domestically, as they found themselves down in 17th place in the Premier League table.

A lot can be said about why Tottenham slumped so badly in Ange Postecoglou’s second season, after the Australian managed a fifth-place finish in his debut campaign, with injuries one of the main factors for the Lilywhites’ poor form.

Kevin Danso ready to fight for Tottenham shirt in 25/26 season

The 25/26 season simply has to be better for Spurs, and this would require that the players step up as Tottenham aim to compete on multiple fronts.

Kevin Danso completed his £21m move to Tottenham last month following his initial loan spell and has now promised to do just so, stating that he is ready to fight for his Tottenham shirt.

Speaking to Kronen Zeitung, Danso spoke about the competition that is within the Tottenham first-team, admitting that his debut season in north London was difficult, but that he is ready to fight for a place in the starting XI.

He said: “I feel good; for me, it is like returning to my second home. I always give my all; the fans love me. Of course, the competition is fierce, that is normal at such a big club. But I have had a difficult season, I only arrived in the winter, and I will fight for my jersey.”

Danso needs consistency to break into the Spurs starting XI

Kevin Danso proved to be a solid addition to the Tottenham squad after he featured in 15 games for Spurs across all competitions, including in the Europa League final as a second-half substitute.

With Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero currently ahead of him in the pecking order, Danso would need to be consistent to stake a claim to be Tottenham’s starting centre-back but has won fans over with his fearless style.

Of course, there would be several opportunities for the Austrian to prove himself, as Spurs would be competing in four competitions, including the Champions League, the FA Cup, the Carabao Cup and the Premier League.
