Tottenham save £15.6million in annual wages after four player decisions

0 5

Tottenham have made ruthless calls in their summer clearout, trimming the wage bill by £15.6 million ahead of what promises to be a busy transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur’s summer business is already underway, with Kevin Danso completing a permanent transfer following his initial loan spell.

The £21 million obligation to buy was triggered at the end of the campaign, making the defender Spurs’ first addition of the window.

At the other end of the scale, Tottenham announced the departure of four senior players – Sergio Reguilon, Fraser Forster, Timo Werner and Alfie Whiteman – all of whom will formally leave when their contracts expire on 30 June.

Despite those exits, Tottenham remain active in the market, with strong links to several targets, including a permanent move for Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel. However, no further deals have been completed at this stage.

Tottenham save £15.6m after Reguilon, Werner and Forster exits

With UEFA Champions League football secured through their Europa League triumph, Tottenham’s finances have received a welcome boost ahead of a crucial summer window.

Further savings have arrived with the sale of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Marseille, who triggered their £17 million obligation to buy following his loan spell in France.

And now, according to figures from Spotrac, the club has also freed up £15.6 million in annual wages following the departures of Reguilon, Forster, Werner and Whiteman, offering greater financial flexibility ahead of incoming business.

Spurs’ wage structure clears space for marquee signing

Sergio Reguilon departs after five years in north London, having earned £53,000 a week, equating to £2,756,000 annually. His exit alone represents a tidy saving, though not the largest of the outgoing quartet.

Timo Werner’s loan deal from RB Leipzig saw Tottenham cover his full salary, which was a hefty £165,000 per week – the fourth-highest wage at the club, amounting to £8,580,000 per year.

Veteran goalkeeper Fraser Forster also carried a significant salary burden, with his £75,000 weekly wage totalling £3,900,000 annually.

Meanwhile, Alfie Whiteman, though on the lower end of the pay scale, still earned £7,500 weekly and £390,000 annually – figures that now come off the club’s books.

With £15.6 million now saved in terms of wages, Spurs are expected to have a few more in the bank to spend when negotiating deals with potential new signings.

Tottenham has been reported to be eyeing a marquee signing of their own this summer window; the expectation is that they will use the extra funds saved on such a deal.
