Report: 51-year-old now the frontrunner to replace Ange Postecoglou as Tottenham manager
One Premier League boss is moving ahead of the pack to emerge as Tottenham Hotspur’s clear number-one managerial target to replace Ange Postecoglou, whose future at the club appears to be hanging by a thread.
Tottenham fans are frustrated at the lack of communication from the club about the managerial situation, but if reports are to be believed, it would appear that Postecoglou is set to depart Tottenham despite delivering the Europa League title.
It has been claimed over recent days that Spurs are eyeing moves for the likes of Thomas Frank, Andoni Iraola, Marco Silva and Oliver Glasner.
A few days ago, Foot Mercato claimed that Tottenham had contacted Frank to explore his interest in the job and it now appears that the Belgian’s prospects of becoming the next Spurs boss are improving.
Why Thomas Frank is emerging as the clear top target for Spurs
Football Insider have now claimed Thomas Frank is emerging as the clear leading contender to replace Postecoglou even though Spurs also explored moves for the likes of Silva and Iraola.
The Lilywhites are said to be ‘increasingly convinced’ of the credentials of the Danish coach, who has not only got Brentford promoted to the top-flight but has also established them as a force in the Premier League over his seven years at the club.
His proven track record in the Premier League and his ability to develop players appeal to the Tottenham hierarchy, as does his staying power, which he has demonstrated by the kind of project he has undertaken with the Bees.
What Frank is thinking about Tottenham’s approach
Just a few days ago, it emerged that the Brentford boss has shown an interest in the Spurs project after holding initial talks with the Lilywhites.
It was alleged that Frank believes he is ready to take the step up to a club like Tottenham as he wants to prove himself at a ‘big-six’ club.
The update also explained that the 51-year-old fears the Bees will lose their best players again this summer and as a result, believes the time is right to take up a different challenge.
