NFL Rumors: What Patriots Would Have To Trade To Acquire Kyle Pitts
Once viewed as a generational type of pass-catcher, Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts had underperformed.
And that could lead to Atlanta trading the 2021 first-round pick as he enters his fifth and final season under contract.
FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz reported Friday multiple teams have reached out to the Falcons about the Florida product. Schultz noted that nothing is imminent, and the Falcons would need to be offered “at least a Day 2 pick” to even consider dealing Pitts.
While Pitts has failed to build off his Pro Bowl rookie season, in large part due injuries and a decline of targets, he still just 24 years old with potential. He caught 196 passes for 2,651 yards and 10 touchdowns during 61 career games — averaging 49 catches for 663 yards per season.
Could a team like the New England Patriots consider dealing for Pitts? While the pass-catching group is improved under first-year head coach Mike Vrabel, they’re still not in position to turn away talent.
Acquiring the fourth overall pick in 2021 for a third-rounder is an enticing thought.
