Loan Watch: End Of Season Summary
The Hibees have had a number of players out on loan this season across the continent – check out our final Loan Watch of the season below!
Dylan Vente – PEC Zwolle
Centre-forward Dylan Vente had a strong season with Dutch topflight side PEC Zwolle, finishing the season as the Eredivisie’s fifth-top goalscorer.
The 26-year-old bagged 13 goals in 30 league appearances, which included a superb scoring run across the winter period in which he netted eight goals over eight games. He also netted in his only KNVB Beker appearance versus NEC Nijmegen.
Vente’s talismanic performances lifted Zwolle to a tenth-place finish in the league, bettering the Bluefingers’ 12th spot finish last season.
The striker made his national team debut with Suriname in September 2024 while at PEC Zwolle.
Kanayo Megwa – Partick Thistle
It was a productive season out on loan for 21-year-old full-back Kanayo Megwa, who was a key player throughout Partick Thistle’s promising 2024/25 campaign.
The versatile defender was utilised in various positions for the Jags – being deployed as a centre-back, full-back and winger during the Jags’ promotion chase.
Megwa impressed in the Championship, making 26 appearances throughout the league season, before playing every minute of Thistle’s play-off push. After defeating Ayr United in the Quarter-Finals, the Maryhill outfit would go on to lose out to Livingston in the next round.
Oscar MacIntyre – Queen of the South
Versatile defender Oscar MacIntyre played a vital role in Queen of the South’s promotion-chasing campaign, missing just one of the Doonhammers’ 45 competitive matches.
Following up his 15 appearances with the Dumfries club during the 2023/24 campaign, MacIntyre was a constant in a variety of positions – often used on the left-side – as the League One club finished third.
A narrow 2-1 aggregate play-off defeat to Cove Rangers brought MacIntyre and Queen of the South’s season to an end in May.
Jacob MacIntyre – Kelty Hearts
Oscar’s younger brother Jacob also had a strong season in Scottish League One, playing 27 times for Kelty Hearts.
The Fife outfit finished sixth in the third tier, with Jacob scoring three times from midfield. His piledriver versus Arbroath nominated for the club’s Goal of the Season award.
Murray Johnson – Airdrieonians / Queen of the South
Spending the first half of the season at Airdrie, Johnson made 13 appearances across both the Scottish Championship and Scottish League Cup.
The 20-year-old goalkeeper would go on to join Oscar MacIntyre at Queen of the South for the second half of the campaign, but would only make one appearance for the Doonhammers.
While on loan at Queen of the South, Johnson made his Scotland Under-21 debut in a friendly versus the Republic of Ireland.
Allan Delferrière – Racing Union Lëtzebuerg
Belgian midfielder Allan Delferrière played a key role in Racing’s fourth-place finish in the BGL Ligue.
The Luxembourg club’s strong league campaign earned them a spot in the UEFA Conference League qualifying rounds – while Delferrière played every minute of Racing’s Coupe de Luxembourg run, which ended at the Semi-Final stage.
Freddie Owens – Civil Service Strollers
Young keeper Freddie Owens earned plaudits for his shot-stopping performances at Christie Gillies Park throughout the 2024/25 season.
The 19-year-old played 31 league games for the Strollers as the Edinburgh club placed eighth to earn a top-half finish in the Lowland League.
Rory Whittaker – The Spartans
Full-back Rory Whittaker was on loan at Spartans during the first half of the season, making 11 appearances for the Edinburgh club.
He made a substitute appearance as Spartans secured a historic League Cup victory over Ross County in August, while his last outing for the League Two club came in a victory over rivals Edinburgh City.
Whittaker would return to Hibs in January and be a key player in our Under-18s CAS Elite Youth League title success.
Jair Tavares – Motherwell
Portuguese winger Jair Tavares spent the 2024/25 campaign out on loan with fellow Premiership club Motherwell.
The 24-year-old made 10 appearances across all competitions for the Steelmen.
Nohan Kenneh – Ross County
Joining Ross County in January, Nohan Kenneh went on to make 18 appearances for the Staggies and contributed two assists.
The Liberian midfielder will depart Hibernian FC in the summer after making 19 appearances across his three-year stint at the Club.
Kyle McClelland – Coleraine
23-year-old defender Kyle McClelland will also leave the Hibees this summer following the expiration of his contract.
The Northern Irishman spent the past season on loan at Coleraine in the NIFL Premiership, making 39 appearances across all competitions.
Murray Aiken – Airdrieonians / Bonnyrigg Rose
Central midfielder Murray Aiken split his 2024/25 season across two loan spells, spending the first half of the season at Airdrieonians before moving on to Bonnyrigg Rose in January.
The 20-year-old played 19 times for Championship side Airdrie before injury hampered his progress at the club. 11 outings followed at the Rose in League Two.
Aiken will leave Hibernian this summer after his contract expires.
Malik Zaid – Annan Athletic / Edinburgh City
Libyan forward Malik Zaid also spent his 2024/25 campaign at two different clubs.
Scoring on his debut in August for Annan Athletic against Cove Rangers, Zaid would go on to make 15 appearances in total for the Galabankies.
Zaid remained closer to home for the second half of the campaign, scoring four goals and providing three assists in 19 games for League Two side Edinburgh City.
The 20-year-old will depart Hibernian following the end of his contract.
Reuben McAllister – Cove Rangers / Forfar Athletic
18-year-old midfielder Reuben McAllister will also leave Hibernian this summer after spending this season on loan at Cove Rangers and Forfar Athletic.
McAllister made 17 appearances for Cove, before netting four times for Forfar in League Two during his 16-game stint at Station Park.
