Harry Kane singles out two Tottenham players for praise after Europa League triumph
Harry Kane has paid tribute to two Tottenham Hotspur stars after the Lilywhites historic Europa League triumph in Spain at the San Mames.
It sure is going to be celebration after celebration for Tottenham Hotspur fans, who would be delighted to see their side win a trophy for the first time since 2008.
Several great players and managers have been part of the club’s journey since they last won the League Cup 17 years ago, but many failed to lead the club to glory.
However, that long wait ended on Wednesday, 21 May, when Tottenham Hotspur beat Manchester United 1-0 at the San Mames Stadium, and got their hands on the Europa League trophy in Spain.
With a trophy in the cabinet, the celebrations in north London are set to continue until Friday, with Tottenham to hold an open-top bus trophy parade with their fans.
Harry Kane congratulates Tottenham duo Ben Davies and Heung-min Son after Europa League win
Following the match, Harry Kane has now sent a congratulatory message to two of his former teammates as well as Tottenham fans.
He has stated that he is absolutely delighted to see the club finally win a trophy, wishing them more to come in the years ahead.
Kane said on the Cleats app: “Massive congratulations to Spurs and to all of the boys and staff. I know how much it means to them and it has been a long time coming, just buzzing for everyone there and buzzing for all of the fans as well.
“European champions is a massive, massive achievement. Really proud obviously for the boys I know well like Sonny and Ben, those boys who have been part of the journey for a long, long time. They deserve to have that moment which they had last night and over the next weeks as well.
“Massive congratulations to everyone involved. It was nerve-wracking watching it but what an ending. I hope they enjoy it, I hope the fans enjoy it and make the most of it.
“Hopefully that is the start of many more to come.”
Kane and Son end trophy droughts in same season
Harry Kane himself ended his long wait for silverware earlier this season, after Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga title for the 33rd time in their history.
The England captain has maintained a close relationship with Heung-min Son, who has stated that he was quick to congratulate Kane following his recent success with the German giants.
He said: “I sent him a message, and he replied with a video call. He looked so happy, and I was genuinely thrilled for him. He is a really close friend and someone I achieved a lot with – so it felt like a family member winning. If Kane is sending us good energy, maybe we can produce something special too.”
The two friends have now ended their trophy droughts in the same season, both achieving a career-long dream.
