'If the club thinks..': Fernandes drops Man United exit bombshell after European heartbreak

0 4

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has sparked fresh exit rumours after a crushing defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final on Thursday night.

Fernandes was surprisingly subdued as Spurs locked down a 1-0 lead before half-time and parked the bus to grind out the result.

Speaking after the game to the Portuguese media (h/t Sky Sports News), he admitted that he would leave Man United if the club feels the need to cash in on him.

He said: “The day the club thinks that I am too much or it is time to leave, football is like that, and you never know.

“If the club thinks it is time to leave, because they want to make some money, that is what it is, and football is like that sometimes.”

Selling Fernandes will be an unforgivable act

There is no doubt that the current United team is one of the worst put-together squads in their history.

They are languishing in 16th place in the Premier League and just lost a European final to a Spurs team that barely looked interested in attacking.

Through the gloom and mediocrity, Fernandes has been United’s lone beacon of class and consistency.

With 19 goals and 19 assists across all competitions, he almost single-handedly kept United from descending into complete irrelevance.

As INEOS prepare for a critical summer rebuild, selling their best player must not even be on the table.

Fernandes isn’t just a numbers machine, he is the heart and soul of this faltering side.

To offload him for quick cash would be viewed as nothing short of betrayal by the fanbase.

It would send a chilling message that the club’s new custodians are no better than the Glazers.
