Report: Tottenham could battle Man United and Chelsea for Serie A manager
A new report has shed light on Tottenham’s pursuit of an experienced Italian manager, with the Lilywhites potentially set to face competition from Premier League rivals as well as from a Saudi Pro League side for the Serie A boss’s services.
While reports indicate that Ange Postecoglou is likely to depart Tottenham sooner rather than later, there appears to be no clear front-runner to replace the Australian at the moment.
It first emerged back in February that Fabio Paratici had urged Daniel Levy to appoint Simeone Inzaghi as the next Spurs head coach.
This was backed up a couple of weeks ago by InterLive, who claimed that Inazghi’s name is ‘getting hotter’ in the race for the Tottenham hotseat.
Tottenham are not the only ones after Simone Inzaghi
A new report in Gazzetta dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness) has backed up Spurs’ interest in the Inter boss ahead of the summer.
The Nerazzurri are looking to complete a sensational double, but they need Napoli to slip up in the final game of the season in order to win the Scudetto, while they are also underdogs in the Champions League final against PSG on May 31.
Gazzetta say that the possibility of the 49-year-old leaving Inter will increase if the Italian giants fail to win silverware this season.
However, they make it clear that Tottenham will not have a free run at Inzaghi, with Manchester United and Chelsea ready to offer competition to the Lilywhites for the Italian coach.
Inzaghi rumoured to have held talks with a Saudi club
Gazzetta say that Spurs may also have to contend with competition from the Middle East for the Inter boss, with Al Hilal ready to tempt Inzaghi.
The publication points out that there have also been rumours floating around that the Tottenham managerial target has already spoken with the Saudi Pro League side, although these claims have been denied by Inter.
This claim by Gazzetta contradicts what was reported earlier this week by The Sun, who claimed that Paratici could turn to another Italian coach after learning that Inzaghi wants to stay at Inter.
