Tottenham winger opens up on injury scare in training ahead of Europa League final
Brennan Johnson came close to a disaster earlier this week after being a victim of an unfortunate training ground accident.
Tottenham have had terrible luck with injuries all season and will miss some key players for the Europa League final, with Johnson having spoken about his near miss ahead of the showpiece in Bilbao.
James Maddison, Lucas Bergvall and Dejan Kulusevski have all been ruled out of the Europa League final, joining long-term injury absentee Radu Dragusin on the treatment table.
It turns out that Ange Postecoglou could have come dangerously close to losing another key man who is widely fancied to start for the Lilywhites against Man United.
Brennan Johnson was involved in accidental clash with Sergio Reguilon
During an open media training session at the club’s Hotspur Way training facility last week in which Alasdair Gold was one of the attendees, he captured an incident on camera in which Brennan Johnson almost became the latest victim following innocuous incident in a small-sided game in training.
Sergio Reguilon rushed towards the Welsh international during training, only to slip on the grass and tumble into Johnson, catching him painfully on the foot.
The 23-year-old was left on the floor with plenty of pain and was limping heavily for a few minutes. However, he was eventually able to shake it off and complete the training session, much to his and Ange Postecoglou’s relief.

The winger confirmed following the session that there was nothing to be worried about and that he is good to go for the final.
When asked how his foot was, Johnson told Football.London: “No problems…it was a bit sore at the time but no worries there.”
The former Nottingham Forest man was also asked if there was any concern in training sessions leading up to the final of whether an injury might rule players out of such a huge game in their careers.
The pacy wide-man responded: “No. I feel like when you start thinking about that … in my head, it feels like it can happen. So no. It’s about training strong, still being aggressive. Obviously, to a degree. Yeah, doing everything right because we don’t want to take it easy.”
