Ex-Patriots Star Makes History With Wild New Contract
Joe Thuney has had one of the best runs in NFL history.
I don’t need to give you a full rundown, but the guy has four Super Bowl rings, has been named All-Pro four times and got to block for both Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes.
It’s about to get better, too.
Thuney, 33, agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension with the Chicago Bears, per his agent Mike McCarthy. It’ll push his total contract value to $51 million over the next three years, with $33.5 million guaranteed at signing, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported on Tuesday.
The Bears acquired the iron man in March, hoping to become just as successful as veteran’s previous franchises — the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs.
Thuney has missed just two games across his nine seasons. If he continues to stay healthy and plays out this deal, he will become the highest-paid guard in NFL history — while potentially having room to add to his $130 million total.
Not bad living, huh?
