The Everton Forum • Re: Everton v Southampton
Absolutely nailed it mate. Especially with the culture part. For the first time in my life going to Goodison on Sunday, it felt more than just a football club to me and I felt like more than just a fan. The whole thing was bigger than football, and it was a great feeling. Almost a bit religious in a sense. We have the best catalogue of songs in the game don’t we.
Z cars is just unrivalled when it comes to the song to walk out to.
Spirit of the blues is an all time banger.
I guess that’s why the call it blues. The lyrics to fit perfectly for a football song. “Time on my hand could be time spent with you”
There she goes now fully in the mix. One of the greatest pop songs written by a genius who gave us the greatest Everton quote of all time.
I think a lot of fans would have been watching that on Sunday jealous of how much of a culture supporting Everton is.
I think us, the reds and United are streets ahead the rest of the game in this country when it comes to this type of stuff.
We are fucking massive and when that trophy finally comes it’s going to be some party.
I don’t know what it’s like supporting other clubs, and I am sure there are some great fan bases out there. But no one is above us when it comes to that culture.
Just need to take that feeling with us to the new stadium and make sure we bring the noise!
