Yves Bissouma is determined to make Tottenham trophy win the ‘best night of his life’
Yves Bissouma has admitted that being part of a European final will be a dream come true for him but insisted that he and his Tottenham teammates are determined to go one step further and bring the Europa League title to N17.
From the interviews that we have heard from various Spurs players over the last few days, it is clear that there is a huge hunger within the group to silence critics and write their names into the club’s history books.
Micky van de Ven has said that Tottenham are determined to shed the ‘Spursy’ tag by winning the final, while Guglielmo Vicario has revealed that Tottenham’s struggles this season have only added to their hunger to win the trophy.
Heung-min Son has said that the Europa League final will be the biggest day in his life, with the South Korean having his eyes set on fulfilling something he has wanted for a long time.
Yves Bissouma wants to bring the trophy home to Tottenham
Bissouma was one of the players leading the wild celebrations in front of the travelling Tottenham fans at Bodo/Glimt two weeks ago.
The midfielder, who is expected to start at Bilbao, in light of his recent upturn in form, admitted that he has been on cloud nine since Tottenham Hotspur secured passage to the final, but remarked that he and his teammates still have unfinished business.
Bissouma told Sky Sports: “It was the best night of my life (second leg of the semifinal in Norway) because I qualified for the final of the Europa League. Nothing can change it in my life, and I will never forget this. And I know I can have one night that can be better than this so I’m trying to work hard to be ready for that.
“It’s not every time you have a chance to play a European final, and it’s not something that’s coming every season, so a special moment like this, you feel it like a dream. I don’t want to wake up.
“I realise it’s not a dream, we worked hard for that to be where we are now. The club deserves it, the fans, and we deserve it as well because every day we’re working really hard to be where we are now. We have to do the right things to bring that trophy home.”
Bissouma says Spurs do not need to focus on Man United
Ahead of the game, Bruno Fernandes has said that Man United know how to stop Tottenham, and the same comments have been echoed by their manager, with Rubem Amorim insisting that he knows what to expect from Spurs.
However, Bissouma suggests Tottenham are taking a different approach and are only focused on being at their best rather than on stopping the opposition.
When asked about the fact that Spurs have already beaten United on three occasions this season, the midfielder responded: “Now we have to beat them four times. I respect them, it’s an amazing club, but to be honest, we focus on us. Focus on preparing what we have to prepare and go.”
