Red Sox Vs. Braves Lineups: Brayan Bello Takes Mound In Rubber Match

BOSTON — The Red Sox look to turn the page in the form of a series victory against the Braves on Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park.

Boston got off to a slow start in the series, but bounced back in a huge way Saturday night when Rafael Devers crushed a walk-off home run — the first of the three-time All-Star’s career. That ninth-inning heroics not only threw the Red Sox back in the win column, it also secured the team a rubber match in the finale with Atlanta, as Boston gives the ball to right-hander Brayan Bello.

Bello, making his fourth start on the campaign, has been solid for the Red Sox thus far. The 26-year-old enters the contest having not surrendered over three earned runs across his first four starts, although the next step has been clear: going deeper into games. Bello last tossed 4 2/3 innings against the Detroit Tigers while allowing two earned runs and striking out four, but moving forward, Boston will need more to break out of its current state of playing .500 baseball.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora mixed up the lineup for the series finale, re-inserting left-handed hitters Wilyer Abreu and David Hamilton to counter Atlanta’s right-hander starting pitcher Spencer Schwellenbach. Hamilton has seen limited opportunities this season, however, when called upon, the versatile infielder has delivered — especially as of late. Hamilton enters the Boston-Atlanta matchup hitting .667 with a home run in his previous five games.

If the Red Sox close out the three-game set victoriously, they’ll jump back to .500 at 24-24 before hosting their next interleague series on Monday night against the New York Mets.

First pitch from Fenway Park is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. ET, and you can catch all the live action on NESN.
