2/11 duels won, 11 passes: £38m star was Man Utd's worst player vs Chelsea, lost the ball 13 times - opinion
Manchester United suffered their 18th defeat of the Premier League campaign against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge yesterday.
The Red Devils started the game positively and were unlucky not to find the net early on.
Harry Maguire was denied a brilliant goal by VAR due to a marginal offside decision.
United struggled to replicate the performance after the break. Marc Cucurella eventually scored the winner for the Blues in the 71st minute.
Looking at the performances, Rasmus Hojlund was once more disappointing leading the line.
We had anticipated Chido Obi to start against the Blues, with Hojlund being rested for the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday.
However, manager Ruben Amorim kept Hojlund up top for the full 90 minutes. The 22-year-old failed to make any sort of impact for the Red Devils.
The £38 million-rated star managed just 11 accurate passes and lost possession on 13 occasions.
He won only two out of 11 ground and aerial duels contested and did not complete a dribble.
Hojlund’s form is a huge concern ahead of the Europa League final showdown at San Mames.
Spurs have their main central defenders in Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven fit for the final. The duo could outmuscle the Dane with relative ease.
Amorim is unlikely to experiment with a false nine in the final. We expect Hojlund to start upfront with Chibo Odi ineligible and Joshua Zirkzee injured.
Hojlund must step up against Spurs in Bilbao. Another poor outing could lead to questions over his future at United beyond the summer transfer window.
