Red Sox Reveal New Fenway Park-Inspired ‘City Connect’ Jerseys
The Red Sox revealed a new “City Connect” jersey Friday.
Boston’s new Nike “Fenway Greens” uniform pays homage to Fenway Park, utilizing the color scheme of the iconic Green Monster. The bottom of the jersey features the balls-strikes-outs lights, and “1912” is stitched inside the collar to mark the year the Green Monster was built in the original ballpark.
Alex Cora’s side will debut the new uniform Friday against the Atlanta Braves. The yellow and blue uniforms will remain a core offering for the team, replacing the blue alternate jersey, and will continue to be worn during Patriots’ Day weekend at Fenway Park.
The team released an announcement video of their second “City Connect” uniform.
Another inspiration taken from the Green Monster is the jersey font. The yellow number color is a nod to the Fisk and Pesky poles.
“The original Nike City Connect uniforms were a bold departure for the team, rooted in the spirit of the Marathon more than the club’s traditional identity,” said Troup Parkinson, Chief Marketing and Partnerships Officer for the Boston Red Sox, per a team press release. “This time, we started with a clear design thesis to create something lasting – drawn directly from Fenway Park itself. Every element has meaning and reflects a place that has defined Red Sox baseball for over a century.”
