American Airlines Announces Fall Schedule for Football Fans

On Thursday, May 15 American Airlines announced a major change to its fall schedule adding thousands of seats for football season.

“American knows that fans want to be in the stadiums where legends are made and memories are cherished,” Jason Reisinger, American’s Managing Director of Global Network Planning said in a statement. “Just as the players get ready to step onto the field with confidence, fans can confidently step on board an American flight they booked as part of our largest-ever fall football schedule.”

The airlines plans to add more than 185 additional flights with more than 22,000 additional seats - with more than 11,000 available for each the NFL and college football seasons. 

"American will add special flights for fans to watch the action where its best: live from the stadium. In total, the airline will add nearly 11,000 additional seats for fans this fall between special fan flights and larger aircraft operating from American’s hubs such as Philadelphia (PHL) and Washington, D.C. (DCA)," the airline said in its release regarding NFL travel.

In addition to the football-related schedule changes, American Airlines announced a number of international additions to the schedule as well. The airline announced in it will will be adding additional nonstop flights between Miami (MIA) and Madrid (MAD) in November.

With the NFL adding international games with each passing season, American touted its international service.

"American operates more flights to London (LHR), MAD and Sao Paulo (GRU) than any other U.S. airline. And, together with our partners, customers have the most comprehensive access to international games — including in Dublin (DUB) and Berlin (BER)," the airline said.
