Celtics Teammate Had Hilarious Quote After Luke Kornet’s Huge Night
Luke Kornet came out of nowhere to power the Boston Celtics’ do-or-die victory over the New York Knicks on Wednesday.
How did he do it, though?
Kornet has been undervalued from a national standpoint for a long time, consistently rising to the occasion in big moments. It’s safe to say that his seven-block performance off the bench wasn’t all that expected, though perhaps there was one thing that helped him exceed any and all expectations this time around.
“It’s funny, you put a sleeve on Luke Kornet, he turns into Bill Russell,” Sam Hauser told The Athletic, referring to a now-viral meme of Kornet and Russell. “Someone texted it to me. It’s hilarious. They look pretty similar.”
Kornet’s new digs weren’t initially in the plans, though it became necessary after the big man caught Knicks guard Josh Hart with an elbow, causing both to bleed.
Hart came out on the losing end in that meeting.
“I think (Kornet) channeled his own inner White Goodman there,” Hauser told The Athletic. “’Nobody makes me bleed my own blood.’”
The Celtics certainly hope they continue to get dominant performances out of Kornet, especially if Kristaps Porzingis continues to look like a shell of himself. Someone just needs to keep that shooting sleeve in his locker.
