Why Ex-Patriots Star Endorses This Element Of Drake Maye’s Game

Drew Bledsoe wasn’t much of a runner when he quarterbacked the New England Patriots, so he envies the athleticism Drake Maye brings to the position.

Maye tallied 421 yards on the ground with a pair of touchdowns to complement his encouraging passing game for the Patriots. The young quarterback has better help around him in Year 2 where he could make more big plays on the ground.

Former Patriots quarterback and Super Bowl XXXVI champion Drew Bledsoe believes that sprinkle of diversion can really help Maye improve as a dynamic offensive player in his sophomore season in the NFL.

“It’s such a great weapon and something, quite honestly, I’m a little bit jealous of,” Bledsoe told FanDuel’s Kay Adams on “Up and Adams” Wednesday. “… I’m not saying do it more, but the ability to do that really changes him. You watch Pat Mahomes, it seems like every game, Pat would make one big play running the ball. Obviously, he’s magic throwing the ball. It always seemed like in crunch time he’d pull it down to run for that first down that was just a backbreaker. I think Drake Maye has the ability to do that.”

With a new offensive coordinator and new weapons around him, Maye should show the Patriots just why he’s the special talent they drafted him to be.
