Scott On Keeping Up Consistency
Grant Scott aims to keep up the same consistency heading into a crucial final week of fixtures that has elevated Hibs Women to the top spot with two games to go.
The Hibees face Celtic on Wednesday evening at Meadowbank Stadium, before taking on a final day trip to Ibrox to take on Rangers this Sunday.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Scott insists no plans for the week ahead will deviate from the preparations used throughout the team’s successful season so far.
“I think we haven't been in this position before, both other sides have. It's all new, a new experience.
“For us, consistency has been key throughout the year. We have tried to approach every game in the exact same manner.
"Our weeks going in, in terms of our practice and how we structure the week have been pretty consistent and that's exactly what we have to do again.
“The big matches, the outcomes are massive, but we have to have that level of consistency in our planning and preparation and try our best to treat the games as normal.”
Hibs are currently three points above both second-place Rangers and third-place Glasgow City at the SWPL’s summit following Sunday’s 2-2 draw against the latter.
After finishing fifth last season, there were very few, if any, who would have predicted such a rapid rise for the Hibees – a rise that can be attributed to both footballing talent and mental strength.
“We are quite a grounded group,” Scott commented.
“At the start [of the season], the clubs with the bigger squads and the bigger budgets were favourites, and rightly so.
“But we've gone about our business quietly, professionally, and we've got ourselves in a really good position now.”
