Ashford Town (Middlesex) Women (0) – QPR FC Women (6)

0 2

FA Women’s National League Division One (South-East)

Team: Clarke, Cooper, Searle, Lewin, Brooks, Hennessy, Ward-Chambers, Hill, Stanley,  D’Santos, Makowska

Subs: McCrea, Goddard, Hoile, Dzyadyk, Leach

Due to the ongoing 3G pitch development at the Robert Parker Stadium, the Tangerines had switched their home games to Rectory Meadow, the home of Hanworth Villa.

It was the R’s who provided the first attempt of the evening when Emily Hill headed over the bar after Ellie Searle had won a corner.

Then, Courtnay Ward-Chambers’ 25-yard free kick was well saved by Lucy Large.

At the other end, new signing Kendra Clarke, was well-placed to hold on to the Ashford No.8’s shot from distance after nine minutes.

But it was the away side who were having the best of it. Captain, Emily Hill’s audacious long-range effort was kept out by the keeper’s outstretched boot.

Following a swift counter-attack by the home side, Jess Cooper was on hand to provide a superb challenge from just outside the box and the ball ended up going for a throw-in.

Rangers took the lead in the 23rd minute after the ball was headed to Grace Stanley and, spotting that the keeper was off her line, the R’s striker picked her spot from just inside the penalty area.

The away side doubled their lead around ten minutes later, when Grace Stanley took control of a through ball, before striking it into the corner from a widish position.

The R’s striker almost completed her hat-trick, when unmarked in space, her shot just evaded the crossbar.

Excellent tracking back by Ellie Searle when she put the ball out for a throw-in after her pace had got her to it before an opponent.

Just before the interval, Ellie Searle got the ball to Courtnay Ward-Chambers, but being slightly off-balance, she shot wide of the target. Half-time: 2-0.

Rangers continued to pretty much dominate the game and debutant Natalia Makowska and Ellie Searle both had strikes at goal.

Ashford fashioned an attempt from their No. 14, but it was comfortably saved by Kendra Clarke.

Danny Harrigan’s first change came on 62 minutes when Annie Dzyadyk replaced debutant Natalia Makowska.

The goal of the game arrived ten minutes later. Jess Cooper won the ball before advancing and beating an opponent. She then smashed it into the net from close on 25-yards.

A great run by substitute Annie Dzyadyk resulted in a corner, from which, Courtnay Ward-Chambers headed over the bar.

It was no surprise when the R’s added a fourth in the 81st minute. Emily Hill seized upon a loose ball before hitting home from close range.

Four became five a few minutes later from an own goal and Courtnay Ward-Chambers was booked shortly after that.

Rangers scored a sixth goal on 87 minutes from Courtnay Ward-Chambers’ low strike.

Four other substitutions were made during the course of the second-half, which saw the introduction of Renai McCrea, Ashleigh Goddard, Paige Hoile and Jess Leach at the expense of Ellie Searle, Laura Hennessy, Grace Stanley and Meila D’Santos respectively.

Danny Harrigan’s side then took on Cambridge United at Loftus Road.
