Amorim offers positive news after big injury scare vs West Ham

Manchester United suffered a huge setback on Sunday after losing 0-2 to West Ham United in the Premier League.

The Red Devils looked flat and directionless throughout the contest, slumping to their 17th league defeat of the season in front of a frustrated home crowd.

To make matters worse, manager Ruben Amorim was left sweating over the fitness of Leny Yoro, who limped off shortly after the break.

Speaking after the game, Amorim gave a positive update that would bring a smile to United supporters’ faces.

He said (via BBC Sport): “We hope it’s nothing serious. We will assess the player but I think it is a small thing.”

The 19-year-old centre-back went down clutching his foot just four minutes into the second half, with no opposition player anywhere near him.

After being treated on the pitch by the medical staff, Yoro was unable to carry on and headed straight down the tunnel.

Yoro was consoled by his teammates as he fought back tears while slowly walking off the pitch.

The starlet was handed an opportunity at the heart of the back three for the first time in his brief United career. Nooussair Mazraoui and Luke Shaw partnered him in defence.

Yoro was one of only two players who started against West Ham and earned a respectable 6/10 rating in our post-match analysis.

Yoro and Amad Diallo performed their roles well in an otherwise poor display from the hosts.

The young Frenchman looked calm under pressure, completing 98% of his passes and winning three of the four duels he contested.

In recent weeks, Yoro has shown significant growth, not just in his defensive work but also in his willingness to contribute further up the pitch.

His attacking ventures helped United score two goals in the 4-1 win over Athletic Bilbao last Thursday.
