Tottenham fans will adore Paul Merson’s score prediction for Crystal Palace
Paul Merson has made his prediction for Tottenham Hotspur v Crystal Palace and he expects it to be entertaining, to say the least.
Whether Tottenham are having a good season or not is a subjective question which may prompt different responses. No one can deny the Premier League season has been nothing short of a disaster, but Spurs are just one win away from lifting a first trophy in 17 years.
Ange Postecoglou will be delighted with his team’s performance against Bodø/Glimt on Thursday. Their attacking threat was thriving in the second half, while the defending was rock solid, as Spurs picked up a second consecutive Europa League clean sheet away from home.
This has often not been the case when it comes to the league. Tottenham have conceded 57 goals, which is more than most other teams. However, they rarely fail to score in a game, including defeats. A goal on Sunday would mean Spurs have netted in 10 consecutive matches in all competitions.
Paul Merson predicts Tottenham to keep on scoring
Paul Merson is no fan favourite amongst Spurs supporters for obvious reasons, but his prediction for Tottenham’s battle with Crystal Palace should earn the seal of approval.
Writing on Sportskeeda, he has backed Spurs to have a strong attacking performance and secure a first league victory since a win over Southampton in early April.
He said: “Tottenham managed to get a big result in the Europa League.
“I’ve always said that they are a decent team when they have all their players fit and ready to play. I think Spurs are heading in that direction with many of them now returning into the mix.
“This is the perfect time for these players to return as well. Tottenham have nothing to play for in the league and slowly ease these players back into action before the Europa League final.
“I can see plenty of goals in this game. Both Tottenham and Crystal Palace will have a go at each other and I expect a thriller in north London.”
Merson’s prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 Crystal Palace

Spurs could use a Premier League victory
As Merson has said, Tottenham have nothing to play for in the league. However, after three straight defeats and a draw with 17th-place West Ham, it would be encouraging to see Postecoglou’s men pick up three points.
Tottenham’s lowest ever finish in the Premier League table is 15th. Even if the Aussie lifts the Europa League trophy, he will want to avoid setting the unwanted record of overseeing the club’s worst-ever league season. A win on Sunday could put Spurs as high as 13th, so it is still worth something.
