Staunts is Back on the Grass for the 2025/26 Campaign
Josh Staunton made 44 appearances over the 24/25 campaign, starting all of these games. Poole’s number four scored an impressive three goals last season, the most memorable one being in the 3-1 away win at Basingstoke.
‘Staunts’ signed for the Dolphins midway through the 2023/24 campaign and made his debut in a 2-0 defeat to Hayes and Yeading.
His journey as a footballer started at Gillingham before moving to Dagenham & Redbridge in the 2016/17 season where they pushed for promotion back into the football league but fell short in the play-off semi-final.
The following season, Staunton moved to Woking where he impressed, making 40 appearances and scoring three goals before making the transfer to Halifax where in two seasons he made 60 appearances.
In 2020, Staunton moved to Yeovil and was an ever-present in their side, making almost 100 appearances; he captained the side and departed with the status of a club legend before signing for Boreham Wood and then joining the Dolphins.
On resigning ahead of the upcoming campaign, Staunton said: “It’s nice to be a part of it, I’m really looking forward to what we as a football club can achieve next season.”
He added: “There’s a lot going on here behind closed doors and it’s a really exciting journey to be going on.”
Joint manager Joe Lea added: “Myself and Pat are absolutely delighted that Staunts is continuing with us, he’s been a huge presence since we joined the club, and integral to the position the club is in.”
Lea added: “His quality and his experience will be massive for us in the upcoming season.”
