Colin Cowherd Floats This Blockbuster Celtics Summer Addition

The Boston Celtics are headed for major shakeups with new ownership and the deconstruction of an expensive roster.

Boston will have to find ways to shed payroll and while that will require significant players to depart, FS1’s Colin Cowherd believes they could bring a star back to stay as a prime contender. The host laid out a scenario where a potential package with Jaylen Brown could be enough to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks.

“Brad Stevens is a very smart GM,” Cowherd said on “The Herd” Friday. “If they go after Giannis, and they’re one of the few teams that would have a package to do it, what does it tell you what he thinks about (Jayson) Tatum?”

Cowherd believes true No. 1 starts in the league provide the following: production, physical and emotional reliability, durability and “be a dog.” Cowherd’s questioned Tatum’s ability to do that on several occasions, though he believes Giannis could bring that to the Celtics.

“He wants to dominate,” Cowherd said.

For now, the Celtics need to focus on climbing out of a 2-0 series hole in their second-round series against the New York Knicks. The series continues with Game 3 Saturday afternoon at Madison Square Garden.
