QPR CEO joins Hammersmith & Fulham Council advisory board
QPR1st Supporters’ Trust is pleased to learn that QPR CEO Christian Nourry’s appointment to the Upstream London Strategic Advisory Board. This board is claimed by the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham (LBHF), to be part of the council’s “bold industrial strategy to build an innovative and more inclusive local economy… unlocking the full potential of our Borough”.
The relationship between the club and LBHF has not always been cordial over the recent years. The club’s ambitious plans for a new stadium at Old Oak Common, and later at the Linford Christie Stadium at Wormwood Scrubs, failed to gain traction. Rumours of communication breakdowns over this period cannot have helped any such plans come to fruition.
It is encouraging to now see Christian Nourry’s invitation to work more closely with LBHF, indeed suggesting the relationship is improving. Whether QPR finally decides to upgrade Loftus Road or seeks a new home in the borough, we feel that maintaining a constructive dialogue between club and council is critical.
We urge the club to continue to communicate with fans as early and as often as possible about how these plans are developing. The fans deserve an upgraded, more comfortable and modern match day experience. We would like to see a roadmap as to how this can happen, even if it is in the medium term.
