Jaylen Brown Strongly Describes Celtics’ Back-To-Back Losses To Knicks
Jaylen Brown didn’t mince words after the Celtics dug themselves into an even deeper hole Wednesday night.
The reigning NBA champions embarrassed themselves at TD Garden on Monday night, but there seemingly was no panic in Boston after the Game 1 loss. There was no way the Celtics would shoot so poorly from 3-point range again and suffer another loss at home, right?
Wrong. Not only did Joe Mazzulla’s side shoot 25% from distance again Wednesday night, but it once again squandered a 20-point second-half lead. The C’s were particularly atrocious in the fourth quarter, and they now will head to Madison Square Garden down 0-2 in the best-of-seven series.
While some Celtics tried to sugarcoat their unenviable situation, Brown held his team accountable.
“Two games we’re up 20 points somehow end up not with wins is inexcusable,” Brown told reporters, per ESPN. “Obviously being down two, it sucks.”
Although Brown didn’t pull punches about the Celtics’ back-to-back duds, he didn’t showcase any sort of panic despite the adversity.
“We’ve got to make sure we’re ready to come out for Game 3,” Brown told reporters, per The Boston Globe. “I think we’re due for a lot of makes. We’ve got to be better to close games. We’ve got to learn and respond fast. Shift your mentality, shift your focus. Let it sting a little bit and do whatever it takes in Game 3. We can get back in this thing, no question.”
Saturday afternoon’s contest, the series’ first in New York, is set to tip off at 3:30 p.m. ET.
