David Ornstein drops major update on the future of 'incredible' Man United star
Manchester United are eager to revamp their squad after a dismal 2024–25 domestic campaign.
Recent reports have claimed that Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal are plotting a blockbuster move for Bruno Fernandes.
They are reportedly ready to offer a jaw-dropping deal worth over £1 million per week to land the United skipper.
Reliable journalist David Ornstein has put the rumours to bed for now.
He said (via Sky Sports News): “In United’s mind, he is not going anywhere. They will want to build around him.
“The soundings we are getting from these reports are that Bruno Fernandes is not interested in the move as things stand.
“If he wants to stay and continue his career in Europe, Manchester United genuinely have no intent in cashing in on him,, regardless of their financial situation.
“He has been incredible for Man United throughout his time at the club, especially during tough circumstances.”
Bruno Fernandes is untouchable at Man United
Despite United’s torrid campaign, Fernandes has delivered consistent world-class performances.
His sparkling form has seen him notch up 19 goals and 10 assists across all competitions.
He is firmly in the running to win the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award yet again.
Al-Hilal had previously targeted Mohamed Salah but he has committed to Liverpool. Their focus has reportedly shifted to Fernandes.
The Portuguese playmaker penned a new deal with United last summer, tying him to the club until 2027 with an option for an extra year.
United simply cannot afford to part ways with Fernandes.
He is the linchpin of the team, and his absence renders the side dysfunctional.
Not only as a number 10 but he has excelled in the deeper midfield pivot role in United’s 3-4-3 setup.
Not only manager Ruben Amorim but also club co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has publicly praised the midfielder.
While the club may need to sell to boost their transfer budget, offloading their most reliable performer should not be on the table.
