New Bowman Baseball Card Drop Will Make Red Sox Fans Feel Old
It’s a big week for baseball card collectors, and that might make some Red Sox fans of a certain age a little uncomfortable.
The 2025 Bowman set drops Wednesday, May 7, a day circled on the calendar for many in the hobby. Bowman’s release is always highly anticipated, especially for baseball fans who love to collect the first cards for up-and-coming prospects.
Included in the massive set of 150-card prospects inserts are a few names that will ring a loud bell for Sox fans. Topps announced recently the sons of both David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez will have their first Bowman cards in the 2025 set.
D’Angelo Ortiz (Red Sox), David Ortiz Jr. (Rangers) and Lucas Ramirez (Angels) are part of the set, and collectors can chase their paper and chrome prospects cards with limited variations for each.
All three are still a long way from the big leagues, of course. D’Angelo Ortiz and Ramirez were both drafted last summer, and David Ortiz Jr. signed with Texas as a free agent in August.
Red Sox fans can also chase the rookie card for prospects Kristian Campbell and Jhostynxon Garcia, who are part of the insert series, and really lucky chasers will try to pull autograph book cards for Campbell or Roman Anthony. Good luck with that, though: Each of those inserts are numbered to 10 and can be found in every 900,000 packs.
