Man Utd now want to sign 'unplayable' 18-goal star alongside Cunha - report
Manchester United are interested in signing one of Brentford’s prized assets, according to The Telegraph.
The Red Devils are preparing for a busy summer transfer window, and they could make multiple signings to bolster their attack.
The club are already in advanced negotiations with the representatives of Matheus Cunha, and they hope to secure an agreement very soon.
The Telegraph now claim that the club have their sights on landing Mbeumo alongside Cunha.
Cunha is viewed as an option who could play through the middle. The club plan to bolster their wide attacking department with Mbeumo.
The Red Devils are ready to enter the race for the £60 million-rated winger.
Mbeumo would be a superb acquisition
The Cameroonian star has developed into one of the best wide-attacking players in the Premier League.
He has been exceptional for the Bees this campaign, with 18 goals and six assists from 35 league outings.
Mbeumo has put the club in contention for European football. The Bees are just one point behind Bournemouth for a potential Conference League spot (eighth).
Despite this, he will likely push for a bigger challenge this summer. United should be a lucrative destination for the winger, who can also operate as a second striker.
Mbeumo would be a superb acquisition for the club. He is strong in contesting ground and aerial duels and has also impressed with his chance creation in the final third.
The attacker, described as ‘unplayable‘ by Bees head coach Thomas Frank, has created 16 big chances in the top flight this season. His assist tally should be much higher.
Manager Ruben Amorim has identified him as a top target. The Portuguese may have plans of pairing Bruno Fernandes and Mbeumo behind the main striker next term.
If United were to signCunha and Mbeumo, the former could play as the main striker, having done so for most of his playing career. He could seamlessly fit into the role.
