Red Sox’s Garrett Crochet Shrugs Off Facial Comebacker

Garrett Crochet is as tough as they come on the mound, and the Boston Red Sox ace showed that Sunday.

The lefty took a line drive that got a piece of his nose on a comebacker off the bat of Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa. Boston second baseman Kristian Campbell corralled the deflection and threw out Correa at first base for the out when the attention of the ballpark turned back to the mound.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora and medical personnel came to check on Crochet, who had some blood coming from his nose after contact. He cleaned up and finished the fourth inning to keep going against the Twins.

Crochet struggled with control at times in Sunday’s start but recovered well after Byron Buxton hit a home run on the first pitch of the game for the Twins. The Red Sox and Twins continued their rubber match at Fenway Park, which you can catch on NESN.
