My Villa Woes: Stress, Hope, and What Comes Next
Watching the results come in today had my stress levels through the roof. I was hoping Liverpool might do us a favour with a win away at Chelsea. But it looks like their players are already on the beach. Thank God none of the teams still fighting for the Champions League have to face them in their final games.
Looking at the remaining fixtures for all the clubs, I can see all sorts of outcomes that could favour us. But by God, it’s doing my flipping head in. I see wins one minute, then in the next breath I’ve convinced myself it’ll be a draw or even a loss. Look at the run-ins for yourself and tell me you can’t see all kinds of scenarios playing out. But beware—it’ll do your nut in.
I suppose this is the price you pay for wanting success and competing at the top. All the big sides and their fans go through this, and now Villa have had a taste of the big time recently, I just really want it to continue.
In a day or two, I’ll sit down, go game by game, and try to work out where Villa really stand in the race for the Champions League. Brace yourself—it could be a bumpy ride. UTV
