DARTS WOMEN DEFEATED 2-1 IN KENT CUP FINAL BY CHATHAM TOWN WOMEN FC!

Match Report: Chatham Town Women FC 2-1 Dartford FC

Kent Cup Final, played on Thursday 1st May 2025 at the Gallagher Stadium, Maidstone.

Team: Jade Charlton, Georgie Davis, Abbey Davies, Lizzie Adams, Shauni Griffiths, Amy Russ, Xayla-Rae Alberts, Beth Powell, Poppy Payne, Emily Woodhouse, Ellie Dolby.

Subs: Brionne Fowle, Gabby Howell, Paris Smith.

Following Sunday’s postponement in the League Cup Final, Darts headed to the Gallagher Stadium to take on Chatham Town Women FC in the Kent Cup Final.

Both sides began the game brightly but Chatham got in front with the first chance of the game. In the 15th minute, a deep cross from a corner found Jess King in the 6yd box. The Chatham forward rose highest of all to head home to put Chatham ahead.

The Darts reacted well to going behind and got the chance to draw level midway through the first half. In the 22nd minute, Darts were awarded a penalty as Lizzie Adams was brought down inside the box. Shauni Griffiths stepped up to take the penalty, but it was saved by Chatham keeper, Simone Eligon.

We continued to search for the equaliser and went close 6 minutes before the break. In the 39th minute, a long free kick from Abbey Davies found Xayla-Rae Alberts. The Darts captain sent a header goal bound, forcing another fine save from the Chatham keeper.

As the second half began, we were still on the hunt for the equaliser. In the 57th minute, a free kick from Amy Russ was diverted by Chatham keeper, Simone Eligon, onto the crossbar.

However, the defining moment of the game came 10 minutes from time as Chatham scored a second. In the 80th minute, a cross from the right found Chatham winger, Lottie Sharp, in the 6yd box. The winger headed the ball beyond the Darts keeper to extend the lead.

The Darts began to throw everything to get back into the final and we got one back in added time. In the 91st minute, a long ball from Abbey Davies found Amy Russ in the box. The Darts forward fired an effort on goal beyond the keeper to get a goal back for the Darts.

Darts defeated in the final of the Kent Cup. We hold our heads high in defeat and will come back stronger from this.
