Harry Redknapp makes big prediction on Heung-min Son’s Tottenham future

0 6

Harry Redknapp has predicted what Daniel Levy will do if Heung-min Son decides that he wants to see out his contract and leave on a free transfer next summer.

Spurs triggered an extension to Son’s contract earlier this season, which means that his current deal runs until 2026.

Various outlets over recent months have suggested that Tottenham could cash in on Son this summer, especially after the forward has failed to live up to his own high standards this season.

Some sources have stated over recent weeks that Spurs have already started searching the market for Son’s long-term replacement, which indicates that the South Korean’s decade-long spell at N17 might be about to run out.

Harry Redknapp makes a prediction on Heung-min Son’s future

Redknapp believes that the Tottenham captain has simply been unlucky to be part of a struggling side this campaign and opined that the 32-year-old is very much capable of delivering the goods for the Lilywhites again next season.

The 78-year-old predicted that if the South Korean decides that he wants to see out his deal, the North London club will allow him to do so, given the service he has given them.

When asked if he expects Son to remain at Spurs next season, Redknapp told BetVictor: “It’s been a hard year for Tottenham, so it hasn’t been easy for Heung-min Son. The club’s league position isn’t down to him; Son has just been part of a team that has been in bad form all season. Who knows, next season we could see some new signings come in and start to see a rejuvenated Spurs team, and he could flourish again.

“If he’s got another year left on his contract, I imagine he’ll stay. He’s been a great servant to the club and has been part of moments fans will never forget. It’ll be up to him whether he wants to leave, but if he wants to stay at Tottenham, I don’t think the club will be able to sell him.”

Ange Postecoglou makes admission about Son contract talks

When asked about the forward’s future last month, Ange Postecoglou confirmed that Tottenham have not initiated talks with Son over a new deal.

The Australian revealed that the 32-year-old’s future is part of the club’s agenda for the summer, suggesting that it will be assessed at the end of the campaign.

However, if reports are to be believed, the 59-year-old might not be in charge to give his input on the decision as Postecoglou is expected to part ways with Tottenham this summer.
