Predicted Tottenham XI vs West Ham – Ange Postecoglou makes seven changes
Tottenham Hotspur are aiming to do the double over the Hammers this weekend, but with a second leg Europa League tie looming, Ange Postecoglou is expected to rotate. Here’s our predicted Tottenham XI to take on West Ham at the London Stadium.
Tottenham Hotspur would be hoping to complete the double over West Ham United when they go visiting the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Spurs of course, would have one eye on their second leg Europa League tie against Bodo/Glimt later in the week, but with pride and respect still to play for in the Premier League, Ange Postecoglou would be hoping his side can get a win against the Hammers, as Tottenham remain winless in their last three league outings.
Let us take a look at our predicted Tottenham XI to take on West Ham United in the Premier League.
Predicted Tottenham XI vs West Ham United in the Premier League
Goalkeeper – Guglielmo Vicario: Tottenham’s number one has not been in the strongest of form in recent weeks, particularly in the league, where he has made mistakes in his last three outings. Postecoglou would be hoping his shot stopper can recover his form in this clash.
Right-back – Djed Spence: Postecoglou’s formula has been clear to see in recent weeks’ team selections, with the Australian manager giving Spence minutes in the league. We expect more of the same this Sunday.
Centre-back – Kevin Danso: The winter signing needs more gametime under his belt, especially since he is just returning from injury. There really is nothing to play for in the league, so why risk Romero.
Centre-back – Ben Davies: Micky van de Ven is vital for Tottenham and it is important he is kept fit from now until the end of the season, as a potential Europa League final game could be on the cards. He is rested on Sunday, with Davies coming in for him.
Left-back – Destiny Udogie: The Italian full-back has looked solid in recent weeks especially after Udogie’s reported links with Manchester City. We expect him to continue at left-back because of Spurs’ injury crisis in the centre of the pitch.
Pivot midfielder – Archie Gray: Bergvall is out for the rest of the season, and so Gray could be handed yet another start in the pivot role against West Ham United in place of the young Swede.
Central midfielder – Yves Bissouma: The Malian was the one who came in for Bergvall, after the teenager was seen on crutches ahead of the Glimt tie. Bissouma impressed on Thursday and got his plaudits from Spurs fans. The veteran midfielder needs to build on his recent performance on Sunday, as Tottenham would be relying on him in Bergvall’s absence.
Central midfielder – Dejan Kulusevski: Maddison picked up a knock against Glimt and has been sent for a scan. He is a major doubt for Sunday, so we expect a like for like swap with Kulusevski coming back into the side.
Left midfielder – Mathys Tel: Heung-min Son still has not been declared fit to play, as he continues to nurse his foot injury. Tel should return to the left, after being dropped from the Tottenham starting XI on Thursday.
Striker – Richarlison: Ange Postecoglou has stated that Dominic Solanke is a major doubt for Sunday, so we expect another like for like swap with Richarlison coming back into the side.
Right midfielder – Wilson Odobert: Johnson has been getting the bulk of the minutes on the right, and it is clear why, with the winger scoring goals in crucial games for Tottenham. However, we expect that he sits Sunday’s tie out, as Postecoglou would want him in his starting XI on Thursday for the return leg against Glimt. So, Odobert starts against West Ham United.
