Euro club now want ‘very special’ Man Utd star this summer, Red Devils want €50m for him - report
Atletico Madrid have asked about Manchester United attacker Antony following his impressive loan spell at Real Betis, and the Red Devils could sell him for around €50 million, according to Spanish journalist Marcos Benito.
The Brazilian has hit the ground running in La Liga since his temporary move there in January, with three goals and two assists to his name in 12 league appearances.
The Man United-owned forward has also sparked to life in the Conference League, scoring three times and assisting another two in seven games, including a deft finish to bag the winner in the 2-0 victory over Fiorentina in the first-leg of the semi-finals.
Betis are looking to sign Antony on a season-long loan next term, with manager Manuel Pellegrini recently dubbing him ‘very special’, but the Red Devils will prefer a permanent deal as they could do with some cash in their bid to balance the books ahead of the summer transfer window.
It could give Atletico a chance of signing the 25-year-old, but getting between €40m and €50m for his services from them could prove tricky.
Man United paid Ajax €95m for Antony in the summer of 2022, with a further €5m to be paid in add-ons, but he has scored just 12 goals in 95 games for them, assisting five times, which has seen his value nosedive.
His impressive stint with Betis will likely not be enough to drive up his value, and the Red Devils may need to lower their demands if they want to sell him this summer.
More suitors are expected to emerge in the race for his services, and ending the season with the Conference League league and more goals could be good news for Man United as they hope to make some decent money from a potential sale.
