Red Sox’s Kristian Campbell Earns American League Monthly Honor

The Boston Red Sox more than made the right decision to put Kristian Campbell on the Opening Day roster.

Campbell already proved to be a stud to start the season, and MLB rewarded him as such, as the American League Rookie of the Month for April.

Boston’s No. 2 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, hit the ground running as an impact hitter and added balance as a right-handed bat in a lefty-loaded lineup. The Red Sox second baseman slashed .301/.407/.495 with a .902 OPS, four home runs and 12 RBIs in 29 games during the opening month of 2025.

Campbell appears to be the long-needed staple at second base that Boston desperately struggled to fill since the end of Dustin Pedroia’s tenure. While Alex Cora occasionally floats him a start in center field to exercise his athleticism, Campbell looks more and more comfortable at second base to significantly improve the Red Sox. The needed additions of impact right-handed hitters and infield improvements are already on display with Campbell and third baseman Alex Bregman.

This monthly honor could be the first of several accolades as the Red Sox second baseman continues the strong start to his rookie season in Boston.
