Ange Postecoglou looks ahead to Tottenham’s second leg against Bodo/Glimt
Ange Postecoglou has made an admission about the late goal that Tottenham Hotspur conceded against Bodo/Glimt and the position that his side are in ahead of the second leg in Norway.
Tottenham Hotspur will feel that they could have put the tie to bed on Thursday, given the kind of dominance they enjoyed and the number of chances they created.
The home side had some great chances to extend the lead after going 3-0 up, but they were not able to capitalise on those and were made to pay as the away side pulled one back on 83 minutes through Ulrik Saltnes.
It was apparent from the celebration of the Bodo/Glimt players and fans just how big that goal was, as it kept the Norwegian side in the tie ahead of their home fixture.
Ange Postecoglou claims Tottenham are still in a strong position
Kjetil Knutsen’s men will believe they can turn around the tie, particularly given their impressive record at home in the Europa League this season.
Bodo/Glimt beat Olympiacos and Lazio 3-0 and 2-0 respectively at home in the previous two rounds, and they will now try to repeat the trick against the Lilywhites.
However, Ange Postecoglou believes that Tottenham will get the job done as long as they deliver a similar performance to the one in the first leg.
When asked how his side are placed heading into the second leg, the Spurs head coach said (via Football.London): “Yeah, I think it puts us in a good position. I thought the players were outstanding today, I thought our performance was everything it needed to be, really well organised and disciplined defensively and really calm going forward and created good opportunities for ourselves and maintained pressure.
“Obviously, they scored the goal late, which doesn’t I think reflect our dominance in the game, but if we repeat that performance next week and it’ll be enough for us to get through.”

Postecoglou reveals one factor that gives him belief ahead of second leg
The Tottenham head coach remarked that his side can take confidence from the way they have fought back from difficult situations in the last two rounds of the competition.
Postecoglou wants his players to show the same composure when they head to Norway next week.
When asked if he is calm ahead of the return leg, given that Tottenham fans will be edgy, the Australian responded: “It is not about feeling calm, like I said, you just get belief [from the performance]. I get that Bodo away is a difficult fixture, but so was Frankfurt away and we went there knowing we had to win to get through and I thought the lads handled it really well.
“I think in Europe this year we’ve been really good at managing whatever situation we’re in. We’ve had some games where AZ we lost away from home, but had to come back and showed real calm and composure to win to get through here. I think all those experiences give me the belief we can go there and get the job done.”
