Bournemouth 1-1 Man Utd player ratings: Hojlund earns 7/10 with late goal but 3/10 ace disappoints
Manchester United played out a 1-1 Premier League draw with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday.
Antoine Semenyo gave the Cherries the perfect start, rifling a thunderous strike past the helpless United goalkeeper Andre Onana.
Despite naming a strong starting XI, head coach Ruben Amorim watched on in frustration as his side once again lacked a cutting edge in attack.
A clumsy challenge from Evanilson saw him initially shown a yellow card, but after a VAR review, he was deservedly sent off.
With a man advantage, United threw the kitchen sink at Bournemouth.
They found the breakthrough when Rasmus Hojlund bundled the ball into the net deep into the 96th minute.
This draw leaves the visitors languishing in 14th place in the Premier League standings.
Player Ratings
Andre Onana – 3/10
Onana continues to disappoint.
His shaky ball distribution once again came back to haunt United, gifting Bournemouth the opening goal.
Leny Yoro – 6/10
Yoro is slowly becoming more confident of getting involved in the attack from the centre-back spot.
Harry Maguire – 6/10
He offered calmness at the back and looks destined to start against Athletic Bilbao.
Luke Shaw – 5/10
Making his first start in over a year, Shaw inevitably looked rusty and off the pace.
He showed glimpses of his old self when shifted to left-back in the closing stages.
Noussair Mazraoui – 6/10
His most telling contribution was drawing the foul that ultimately saw Evanilson sent off after a VAR review.
Patrick Dorgu – 4/10
He was caught out of position for Bournemouth’s goal and failed to put in accurate crosses.
Casemiro – 5/10
Another reminder that he is not suited to the English top flight.
He looks much better in the European competition and Amorim acknowledged it with his early substitution.
Kobbie Mainoo – 6/10
He tested Bournemouth’s goalkeeper in the first half but more is expected from the 20-year-old if he wants a regular starting spot in the XI.
Bruno Fernandes – 7/10
Fernandes created an early opening for Garnacho but fluffed his lines when presented with a golden chance from the Argentine’s low cross in the second half.
He played a key role in the equalising goal.
Alejandro Garnacho – 6/10
Once again, Garnacho carried United’s biggest attacking threat almost single-handedly.
He unleashed a powerful drive that whistled just wide of the target and later squandered a golden opportunity with a poor attempted chip over Kepa.
Rasmus Hojlund – 7/10
At last, he has a goal to his name, and that is the best news United could have hoped for today.
Substitutions
Manuel Ugarte – 5/10
He picked up the all-important assist for the equalising strike.
Mason Mount – 4/10
Mount needs to do more.
He came close to snatching a late winner, but his effort was superbly blocked.
Victor Lindelof – 6/10
With Bournemouth reduced to ten men, Lindelof had little to do.
Chido Obi – 6/10
The 17-year-old nearly made a dream impact with his very first touch, but a costly slip robbed him of a golden scoring chance.
Christian Eriksen – NA
Too late to rate.
