Things are not looking good for Tottenham in the race for Jonathan Tah
Jonathan Tah, who is thought to be on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar, is reportedly attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe, with one of those sides even having a ‘verbal agreement’ with the player over a summer transfer.
As rumours continue to swirl about Cristian Romero’s potential summer exit from Tottenham, the North London club will be surveying the market for potential replacements for the Argentine.
According to various reports over recent months, Tottenham are plotting a move for Jonathan Tah, whose contract at Bayer Leverkusen runs out this summer.
In fact, some sources have even reported over recent weeks that Spurs have already reached out to Tah regarding a summer transfer, but the Lilywhites have just been handed a huge blow in their pursuit of the German international.
Jonathan Tah has a verbal agreement with Barcelona
Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has now taken to social media to reveal that the 29-year-old already has a verbal agreement with Barcelona.
However, he explains that he is yet to sign the dotted line as the Catalan club are unable to complete the move at this stage.
Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are said to be waiting in the wings to pounce if Tah’s move to Camp Nou collapses.
The journalist adds that Xabi Alonso’s potential switch to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer would aid Los Blancos’ efforts to land the experienced centre-back.
Which centre-back will Tottenham turn their attention to?
One can understand why the opportunity to sign a centre-back of Tah’s quality on a free transfer would have been extremely tempting for Tottenham Hotspur, but it now appears that they might have to look elsewhere.
According to various outlets, the Lilywhites have their eye on a couple of big-name Premier League defenders ahead of the summer.
It has been widely reported that Tottenham see March Guehi as the ideal replacement for Romero, while it has also been suggested that Spurs are big fans of Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen.
