Predicted Tottenham XI to face Liverpool – Kevin Danso starts

0 2

Tottenham Hotspur return to Premier League action against Liverpool, just days after their 18th League loss against Nottingham Forest at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Let’s take a look at our predicted Tottenham XI to face the Reds on Sunday.

With the Europa League set to resume on 1 May 2025, Tottenham are expected to have the midweek off, meaning all focus will be on their upcoming trip to Merseyside.

Spurs‘ next league fixture falls on Sunday, 27 April, when they face Liverpool at Anfield, and it’d be a daunting challenge for Ange Postecoglou’s men.

Liverpool are on the brink of lifting the Premier League trophy – a win against Spurs could all but seal it for them.

The reverse fixture at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was a goal fest, ending 6-3 in favour of Arne Slot’s side. If Liverpool repeat the feat, it would mark Postecoglou’s 19th league defeat, the most by any Spurs manager in a 38-game campaign.

Predicted Tottenham Hotspur XI to face Liverpool in the Premier League

Goalkeeper – Guglielmo Vicario: Despite back-to-back errors in Tottenham’s last two league games, we expect Postecoglou to stick with Vicario again on Sunday against the Reds.

Right-back – Pedro Porro: Ange Postecoglou does have other options if he fancies a change, with Djed Spence and Archie Gray both capable of stepping in, but we reckon the Spaniard keeps his spot at Anfield.

Centre-back – Kevin Danso: Danso managed a solid 45 minutes against Nottingham Forest and looked sharp. He should get the nod again this weekend, with Micky van de Ven possibly making way.

Centre-back – Cristian Romero: Romero’s been a constant in the Tottenham backline since returning from injury, and with Bodo/Glimt up next, we don’t expect any rotation here.

Left-back – Destiny Udogie: Udogie sat out the Forest match entirely, but Postecoglou’s confirmed he’s fine. It’s unlikely he misses two on the bounce, so we expect him back in the XI, replacing Spence.

Pivot midfielder – Yves Bissouma: We could see a shake-up in midfield, and Bissouma returning to the pivot role wouldn’t be a surprise as Spurs look to freshen up the middle of the park.

Central midfielder – Lucas Bergvall: Pape Matar Sarr started against Forest but failed to impress. That could pave the way for Bergvall to reclaim his place in the XI.

Central midfielder – James Maddison: Maddison missed Monday’s game due to a knock picked up against Frankfurt, but he’s fit again and could slot back in ahead of Dejan Kulusevski.

Left midfielder – Mathys Tel: With Heung-min Son still not confirmed fit, Tel looks set to continue on the left. The youngster has been a constant threat in recent weeks.

Striker – Dominic Solanke: Richarlison was sharp against Forest, and there’s a strong case for him to start. But Postecoglou might give Solanke the chance to rediscover his form in front of goal.

Right midfielder – Brennan Johnson: Postecoglou has options on the right, with Kulusevski and Wilson Odobert both capable. Still, we reckon he goes with Johnson, hoping to keep his top scorer firing ahead of the Bodo/Glimt clash.
