Why Tottenham still have a £22.5m Premier League incentive to play for
Tottenham’s main focus for the remaining weeks of the season will be on the Europa League, with the Premier League set to be put on the back burner, but a report has explained why Ange Postecoglou’s men have a huge financial incentive to finish as high as possible in the table.
Ange Postecoglou decided to leave Dominic Solanke, Lucas Bergvall and Brennan Johnson out of the starting eleven and take off Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero at half-time against Nottingham Forest, which is a clear demonstration of where his priorities lie.
The Australian will do all he can to ensure that his players are fully fit and fresh for the Europa League semifinals against Bodo/Glimt.
However, a new report has explained how Tottenham could gain or lose out on a significant amount of revenue based on where they finish in the Premier League.

Tottenham Premier League prize money is still worth chasing
While Spurs can still mathematically finish as high as eighth place in the Premier League table, realistically, the battle is from 13th to 17th place, with just two points separating Everton in 13th and West Ham in 17th.
Football.London explain that if Tottenham finish in 13th place, the share of the broadcast revenue they would be paid by the Premier League is £22.5m.
If the Lilywhites finish in their current position (16th), they would get just £14m, which is £8.5m lower than what they would for 13th.
If Postecoglou’s men finish just outside the relegation zone in 17th place, they will be entitled to just £11.3m, which is around half of what they would get for a 13th-place finish.
Why Daniel Levy will not mind Ange Postcoglou rotating his squad
One would assume that the Spurs hierarchy will want to finish as high as possible to maximise the club’s revenue, especially given that Daniel Levy recently issued a warning about Tottenham’s finances.
However, winning the Europa League and qualifying for the Champions League will bring in significantly more money into the club’s coffers.
The Tottenham chairman will thus be happy for Postecoglou to give his side the best chance of achieving Europa League glory, even if it means settling for a 17th-place finish in the Premier League.
